Vysehrad, or a High castle was constructed in the 11 century and is related with the legendary prophetess Libuse and the first representative of the Premislyd royal family. The Vysehrad castle and the walls were destroyed by the Hussites in the 15th century and the modern walls were erected in the 17th and 18th century. The casemates Gorlice at the depth of nearly 30 meters under the surface hosts the original statues from the Charles bridge. Tourists will see the original 17th century monument to St.Venceslas, patron of Bohemia, St.Peter and St.Paul Cathedral and the memorial cemetry Slavin where famous people are buried who played a big role in the history of Bohemia.
